WEST COAST STRIKE TROUBLE SPREADS GREYMOUTH DECISION (P.A.) GREYMOUTH, Thursday A general stoppage of the railways service on the West Coast commences at midnight tonight. Four goods trains then running will complete their journeys. A largely-attended meeting tonight of representatives of all sections of the Westland branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants resolved unanimously "that we support the Westport branch and come out at I'2 o'clock tonight." The Westland branch had previously passed a resolution supporting the attitude of the Auckland branch. The meeting tonight expressed the view that the stand of the Westport branch deserved the immediate support ol the West land branch. About 400 men are affected by the Westland decision, extending from Reefton in the north to Ross in the south. The extension of the strike will result in an immediate partifj] crippling of industries, including the coal mines, the bulk of which rely on train transport for the conveyance of miners to work and also for the conveyance of coal. The only two State mines which will not be affected until the bins become full are the Strongman and Blackball. The bins nr.. practically empty at present with a few days' work ahead. The usual passenger and freight seri vice by coastal road between Grey- | mouth and Westport will continue. It lis understood that the Government road services will not operate tomorrow in Westland as the staffs belong to the Amalgamated Society of Railwav Servants.

GKEYMOUTH, Thursday The perishable goods train from Christchurch will run to its destination tomorrow morning while all other trains out before midnight will be brought back again to the nearest headquarters. The railway workshops' employees and the New Zealand Road Services bus drivers at Greymouth are also on strike. These buses provide important transport links from Greymouth to the outlying mining townships of Blackball, Dobson, Wallsend, Taylorville, Blaketown and Hokitika.
