Aug. 10 ' "Danzigers are absolutely clear and firm in their conviction that liberation is at hand, and Danzig will again'return to the Reich," ' said Herr / Albei-t Forster, leader of the Danzig Nazis, in his public speech this, evening. "We can do nothing better than swear that we will hold together and resist every attack on holy German soil. The Fuehrer will stand by our side in the event of a Polish attack. "We will carr.y out every order the , Fuehrer gives us. May the day bo not ; . far distant when we will assemble to celebrate the union of Danzig with the Greater Reich." - The large market was jammed with .10.000 people, and there were another 20.000 in adjacent streets, while 50.000 assembled at various points in the f suburbs, where loud-speakers were installed. Poland's "Threats" Thunderous roars of "We want to return to the Reich" drowned Herr Forster's opening words. He .declared - that they had assembled at a serious moment to protest against the threats of war uttered by Polish newspapers and speakers.: "Anybody expecting sensational announcements //to-night," he said, "will be mistaken. Danzigers have shown their love of, peace. If Polish threats had not been so serious we would have been content to pass them over. However, since they continue, and since they are even supported by official Polish utterances, the time has come to bring our viewpoint before the world in no uncertain terms." Cannot Continue Herr Forster cited Polish utterances as proof tha£ Poland wished to establish a protectorate over Danzig, and ' declared:—"lt must be clear to us, and to the whole of the German people, as well as to sensible foreigners, that such constantly repeated Polish vituperation cannot continue. We have done everything possible,in recent weeks to defend ourselves and answer attacks of every kind. "Threats of war, however challencing, will not frighten Danzig, because the people, on the basis of previous experience, have faith in Nazi leadership. and know it will do the right thing at tho right time." Herr Forster denounced British and French meddling in Danzig's affairs, and said Danzig had been a purely German city sinc6 its foundation. { No Fear ol Poland V "We fear / Marshal Smigly-Rydz's . guns as little as our forefathers feared .the cannon of the Polish King," the speaker continued. "Our rights of selfdetermination were violated by the Versailles Treaty, after which Danzig was reduced to second place, Gdynia proving that Danzig gets only economic disadvantages . and not advantages from Poland.", ' Tho crowds frequently interrupted jrn'th the Nazi slogan, "One Folk, Ono Eeich, One Fuehrer," and shouts of "We want to return to the Reich." They roared'with laughter when Herr Forster cited the opinions of British and French, including Mr. Lloyd George and Mr. Churchill, to the effect that the

Corridor was a mistake, and hissed - when he read out inflammatory state- , ments from ,Polish newspapers, also the recent threat by Marshal Smigly-Rydz that Danzig would be the first stage of a crusade against Germany.
