ARRESTED POLE
COMMITTED FOR TRIAL (Received Julie 21, 5.5 p.m.) BERLIN, June 20 The Polish Customs oflicer Jan Lipinski, who was arrested in Danzig on June 12, has been committed lor trial on charges of attempted kidnapping and a breach of the peace. The Dan/.ig secret police arrested Lipinski. It was stated at the time that he was being held for drunkenness, but Polish authorities claimed that Lipinski was a teetotaller. jVL. Chodaeki, Polish Commissioner for Dan/.ig, protested to the Senate over the kidnapping and beating by the Nazis of Lipinski, who was alleged to have been taken from a cafe, forced into a motor-car, driven to the outskirts of the town and left unconscious on the roadside. An unknown person telephoned to the police advising them where to find a Polish spy.
