GREAT PARADE

HITLER'S BIRTHDAY BERLIN PROGRAMME GESTURE BY DANZIG FREEDOM OF THE CITY By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright BERLIN, April 18 The celebrations of Herr Hitler's 50th birthday, which falls on Thursday, will be begun to-morrow and will culminate in a five-hour goosestepping parade, during which aeroplanes will be forbidden to fly over Berlin on penalty of being shot down. The former President of Czechoslovakia, Dr. Hacha, and representatives of Italy, Spain, Hungary, Bulgaria, Denmark, Rumania, Lithuania, Finland and Latvia will congratulate the Fuehrer. Representatives of Danzig will present to Herr Hitler the freedom of that city. Subsequently, he will open Ellin's east-west axis motor road. Reports that Danzig would be returned to the Reich as a birthday gift to Herr Hitler are described by Herr Albert Forster, leader of the Danzig Nazis, as pure nonsense. Danzig will make the Fuehrer an honorary citizen; beyond that nothing will happen.

STATUS OF DANZIG MATTER FOR THE LEAGUE (Received April 19. 6.15 p.m.) British Wireless LONDON. April IS The Council of the League of Nations would have to consider any modification in the status of Danzig, said the Foreign Under-Secretary, Mr. R. A. Butler, in the House of Commons today. He added that Mr. Chamberlain's recent statements should have put beyond doubt the nature of the undertakings given to Poland by Britain.
