THE RAILWAY SETTLEMENT. [in: TELXQKAPH.—-OWN' CORRESPONDENT. ] PAEROA, Wednesday, A well-attended meeting decided to form an Orphans' Club in Paeroa. A provisional committee that, bad the question in hand, reported that over 100 people had signified their intention of joining. Rules were adopted, and it. was decided to hold seven sessions, one each month, during the Corning winter. Officers were elected as follows:—Guardian, Mr. | 11. Poland, M.P.; president, Mr. Percy Williams; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. Marshall, E. Edwards, P. R. llubbard, Chas. Winder, A. R. Robinson, G_ P. Lamb, .T. Elliot and Major C. E. Andrews; management committee, Messrs. C. P. Topliw E. V, Siyfield, G. H. Taylor, A. R. Gorrie, W. H. Blakeway and D. Brown; secretary, Mr. R >S. Garden; treasurer, Mr. A. Studman; auditor, Mr. G. E. Allen; pianis-t, Mr. A. L. Mitchell. April 2 was friorl .is the opening evening. The new railway settlement area in Paeroa, where tho department intends erecting 60 houses for railway employees, is beginning to take definite shape. Ali ready about 16 houses ha ve been erected, and during the last few days a number i of railwaymen have taken up residence in them. The I'aeroa water supply has been connected with the area, ami electric j current for lighting, etc., has been connected from the Thame.s Valley Power Board's lines. A separate sewerage system has been put. into the area. —
