They had already disbursed £59,581 in excess of all moneys rweivedfrom the Government.; Q - mentreleasedthemfromtheircontract, and decided tocall for fresh tenders, the work being meanwhile carried on by day labour. It is suggested that while realty necessary works-such a the construction of jhe Auckland East D C^ EK^^~ are ': hung up for lack of funds, the Government should not bs "pouring money into a non-developmental hole in the Alps."
