CONSECRATION OF A CHURCH.
[by telegraph.—own - correspondent.] Tauranoa, Monday. Yesterday the Gate Pa Church was consecrated by the Bishop of Waiapu. The services was of a very elaborate character. The church was crowded, and the proceedings were deeply interesting to the local people. The church is erected on the site of the old Gate Pa stronghold, and has several venerable reminiscences of old times on its wall'. The interesting ceremony also created a' great deal of interest amongst the natives. In the evening the Bishop of Waiapu held a confirmation service at Holy Trinity Church, at which about 30 candidates were presented.
