The Wellington papers received by the Admiral Grenfell, were to the 27th of August. The elections, which for some time had occupied so large a share of public attention, had all terminated, and the following is the result : — House of Repesentatives. City of Wellington— Messrs. Clifford, R. Hart, and Kelhana, unopposed. Hutt— Messrs. E. G. Wakefield, and Ludlam, unopposed. Wanganui — Dr. Featherston, unopposed. "'1 Wellington Country District— -Captain Rhodes, defeating Mr k A Brown. tj Wairarapa — Mr. Revans, unopposed. f. Provincial Council. City of Wellington — Messrs. Clifford, Dorset, Fitzherbert, Moore, Wallace, Lyon, and Bethune; defeating Messrs. Kelbam, May, Hart, King, Fawcet, Masters, Rhodes, Carpenter, and Brady. Wellington Country District — Messrs. Bran* don, Waitt, and A. Brown ; defeating Messrs. Schultz, and Gibson. Wairarapa — Messrs. Revens and Gotland, unopposed. Hutt — Messrs. Renall, Wakefield, Ludlam, and G. Hart, defeating Messrs. Mason, Daniell, and Sellers. Wanganui — No returns. On the day' of nomi* nation the show of hands was in favour of Messrs. Harrison, and Watt, whenajpoll was demanded by Mr. Richards. The closing scene of these elections was probably the most agreeable one, for the event was celebrated by a public ball, at which 280 petsons were present. The papers speak in high praise of the manner in which the affair went off. The barque Cornwall, which had sailed a month before the Admiral Grenfell, arrived in Wellington a few hours after the last-named vessel. She has passengers for this port, and may be shortly expected here. The retail price of flour in Wellington is 265, to 30s. per 100 lbs.
