OBITUARY.
HON. J. A. TOLE
An Auciiiaiid telegram this morning announces the death of the Hon. Joseph Augustus Tole, 8.A.,. LL.B., K.iC. The late Mr Toie was tlvyoungest son of the late John To* , , surveyor, Auckland, and was educated at iSt. John's College and Sydney University, graduating B.A. in 1&&X----and LL.B. in 1870. He was adnv'ted to the bar in Sydney in 18/1 and to the New Zealand bar the following yoar. Interesting ihimseLf in politics, he entered Parliament in 1876 as member for Eden, remaining m the House of Representatives until the dissolution in 1887. He joined th , - Stout-Vogel Calbinet in 1884 and office for three years as -Minister of Justice. In 1893 Mr Tole was appointed Crown Prosecutor at Auckland, and he retained that office until his deatih. He took silk in 1907. Keenly interested in. education, he served on the New Zealand University Senate, the Auckland University College iCourteil and the ißoard of Governors of the Auckland Grammar School.
