AY.alter Good, who was concerned in the same disturbance, was fined £3 and costs for committing a breach of the peace. On the information of K. H. Smith, a..barge of using insulting* language was brought by the police against H. M. Reader.. "The Magistrate, after rending ihe offending words ie the information, altered the charge to one of obscene language. Sergt. King i.-osecuted on behalf of the police, and tho defendant, who pleaded not guilty, conducted his own defence. Evidence for the prosecution was given by F. Henderson and Constable Matiiieson, and defendant was fined £2 and costs..

J. R. Akersten was charged with procuring liquor during the- currency of a prohibition order. He pleaded guilty, and was convicted and discharged, and on his own application was ordered to be committed' to the Inebriates' Home at Rotoroa- for twelve months..
