REFUSAL TO STAND O.C. AUCKLAND This Day, Although his buses were licensed to carry standing passengers, the miners refused to stand and another trip had to be made to get them all to work, stated Mr. W. V. Simpson, a bus proprietor, of Huntly, when he asked the Kaglan County Council that the roads between Huntly and the coal mines be improved in order to save wear and tear on his vehicles. • The miners causing most difficulty in this respect paid only sixpence a day to travel, Mr. Simpson said. The fares had remained the same since 1929 and he had great difficulty in maintaining his vehicles in repair. The chairman, Mr. H. ' Johnstone, said the roads were in fair order.
