Her Excellency will return to Christchurch •this evening. ■~ ■ -~■■■• Mr. W. G. Aldridge, principal of the King Edward Technical College, Dunedin, is visiting Wellington. Dr. A. W. H. West, acting headmaster of John McGlashan College, Dunedin, has retired to return to university work. He will be succeeded by Mr. T. S. Holme, head of the primary department. ; ' ' Mr. Geoffrey E. Page,.a New Zealand engineer, has been appointed adviser to the British Purchasing Commission on small arms production in America, With headquarters in New York. Mr. Page, who was educated at Dargayilie j and King's College, Auckland, obtained his electrical and mechanical engineer-! ing degrees at Canterbury College in 1930. He went to England in 1931, joining the staff of Metropolitan Vickers Company. From there he entered the Enfield Small Arms factory, and early in the war was transferred to a new factory as assistant manager, When he applied for enlistment in the New Zealand forces, he was informed by the New Zealand military authorities that he must remain in his armament occupation. Mr. W. F. Bull, Canadian Trade Commissioner, has left New Zealand • for Canada. Engineer-Rear-Admiral G. W. Bodell, of the Navy Office, returned to Wellington from Auckland today. Mr. F. G. Farrell, president of the' Automobile Association (Auckland), has been appointed to the Auckland motor vehicles advisory committee.
