"DANZIG IS GERMAN"
A CONSULAR STATEMENT
(Received July 13, 2.30 p.m.)
SYDNEY, This Day
The acting Consul General for Germany, Dr. Seger, commenting on his interview with the Minister of External Affairs, Sir Henry Gullett, said he did not wish to enter into a controversy but in the eyes of all Germans Danzig was a German city.
A Press Association message from Canberra yesterday stated that Sir Henry Gullett summoned Dr. Seger to his office and told him that it was quite beyond the function'of any Consular service in Australia to engage in propaganda against the United King, dom. Such a course could only lead to difficulties.
The interview was a sequel to Herr Blasing, secretary at the German Consulate in Melbourne, criticising British policy in regard to the Danzig dispute.
