DANZIG SITUATION

MEETING POLAND'S WISH

(Received May 24, 9.10 a.m.)

GENEVA, May 23

Px-ofessor Burckhardt, High Commissioner for Danzig, has been instructed to return to Danzig to report upon the situation to the League.

This decision to reassert the League's protection in Danzig is in accord with Poland's wishes.

The League Council continued at a secret session its discussion of Dr. Wellington Koo's appeal for financial and material aid to China, the withholding of war materials from Japan, restriction of imports from Japan, and the establishment of a co-ordinating committee to deal with these and other sanctions.
