FOUR REFORM NOMINEES

'A TRIANGULAR CAMPAIGN

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. The Reform Party nominations for the Parnell by-election closed yesterday, Aspirants in the order, of nomrnation being as foUowsi-Mr. B. Glover-Clark, Mr. H. B. Jenkins, Mr. W P. Endean, Mr. J. S. Dickson A ballot to choose the candidate will bo held next Thursday. A decision to withdraw from the selection ballot was announced by Mr. A J. Burrows, who was early m the field with an intimation that he would seek official endorsement. Mi. liur rows said he felt that there wore men prepared to stand who would wth ly represent the party, and in view of that he had decided not to allow Ins nomination to go forward. Probably on some later occasion, when his services might be useful, he would offer himself. Meetings of Reform Party supporters were held throughout the Parnell electorate last night for the purpose of appointing delegates to attend the conference next Thursday evening to eelect the official candidate. Two of the nominees for tho Reform candidature, Messrs Jenkins and Glover-Clark, belonged to the United Party at the time of the last General Election, when Mr. Glover-Clark was organiser of Mr. Jenkins's campaign, which resulted in the defeat of the Reform candidate, Mr. Dickson. Mr. Jenkins intimated early this year that he would withdraw from the United Party, being dissatisfied with the Government's, actions. MR. ENDEAN'S CAREER. Tho latest nomination for the Reform Party was that of Mr. Endean. He is a native of Auckland Province, and -is about 46 years of age. He is a son of the late Mr. John Endean, a well-known Thames and Auckland reresident. Mr. Endean commenced practice as a barrister and solicitor in, Auckland about twenty-one years ago. He practised for a time on his own account, but in 1910 ho and Mr. J. A. Holloway joined in partnership, from which Mr. Endean retired about six months ago. Mr. Endean is well known in yachting circles, having for_ the past two years been commodore ot the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron; he has also acted as chairman of the Regatta Committee. During the war Mr Endean saw service in European waters with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. ' Having selected Mr. T. Bloodworth as its official candidate, the Labour Party is now'preparing vigorously for the contest. Mr. Bloodworth said ho had not yet decided when ho would address his first meeting in tho cam-

paign. As matters have now adjusted thorn-, selves, it seems likely that only three' candidates, official representatives of the Reform, United, and Labour Parties, will go to the poll.
