A very full sports programme was arranged for the Holiday, in the morning a six-a-side hockey tournament was played at the Botanical Reserve, there being a large attendance. ■ In the senior competition, Stoke A beat Kiwi 2-0, Waimai A beat Stoke B by a-hit in circle, Fedoral A beat Federal B 1-0, Kiwi A beat Waimai B by a hit in circle. Stoke (2) beat, Waimai A (1) in' the semi-final, and Federal A (1) beat Kiwi A (0). The final between Federal and Stoke was fast and exciting, the former winning by, 2 to 1. The junior results were .-—Kiwi (1) beat Stoke B (0), Nelson A beat Waimai by hit in circle, Houtere A (1) beat-Nelson B (0), Stoke A (2) beat Federal (0), Waimai. A (4) beat Moutoa B- (0).. Semi-' finals:- Nelson A (1) beat Kiwi (0), Moutere.A (1) beat Stoke A (0), Waimai A beat Nelson A by a hit in circle. The' final was between Moutere and "Waimai, the former winning by 1 to nil. The customary Rugby seven-a-side tournament at Trafalgar Park attracted a big crowd. The senior clubs-were represented by Nelson (A and B), Old Boys, Rival, Waimai, and Wakatu. The final was between Nelson , A and Old Boys, the former winning by 13 to 5. The third-class final was played between Wakatu A and Old Boys A, and was won by the former by 8 to nil. ' A Soccer interprovincial match was played at Victory Square between Nelson and Marlborough. There was a poor attendance. The teams were very even-, ly matched, and gave a capital exposition of the code, play being fast and exciting throughout. Nelson scored a goal within a minute of the opening, and later again found the net. The score at halftime was Nelson 2, Titarlborough 0. The visitbrs secured a goal in the second spell, this being the only other score, Nelson thus winning by 2 goals to 1. A match was also played between a team from the st.earner Rimutaka and a Nelson eleven, the former winning by 3 goals to 2. .

At Stoke on Tuesday the war memorial -was unveiled by the Bishop of Nelson in the presence of a very large gathering of residents of Stoke and surrounding districts. The memorial takes the form of gate 3 to the Marsden Eecreation Ground. The names of the folio-wing from the Stoke district who made the supreme sacrifice have been inscribed on the gates:—W. Bovey, A. E. Cresswellj L. G. Ching, S. G. Davies, E. G. Giblin, H. B. Jellyman, L. F. Smith. A large number of wreaths were placed on the memorial. Boy Scouts participated in the ceremony, and Foresters gave the "Foresters' Fire." The gates were designed by Messrs. Houlker and RixTrott; the ironwork was carried out by Mr. W. B. Heath, and the masonry by Mr. Vares. The grounds were laid out on plans prepared by Mr. W. C. Hyde, of the Horticulture Division.

At the monthly meeting of the Motueka Harbour Board, the harbourmaster (Mr. P. G. Moffatt) reported that the total amount of revenue for the month was £250 18s 9d, compared with £195 Is 6d for the corresponding month of last year. The increase was chiefly due to larger shipments of fruit. The board considered a letter from the Nelson Progress League, and voted a sum of. £10 towards the league funds for the coming year.

Mr. T&. G. Power, who has been rhana£er of the Nelson branch of tho New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association for the part few years, has been transferred to the Christrhurch branch.
