MACHINE-GUN BATTERY. MANUFACTURERS' PRACTICAL PATRIOTISM. (Received August 13, 9.25 a.m.) OTTAWA, 12th August. The city has offered the Motherland a machine-gun battery, wuh motor trucks, men, and impedimenta complete, costing £20,000. Private contractors are offering supplies free to repaint the cruiser Niobe. EQUIPMENT OF FRONTIERSMEN. OTTAWA, llth August. Mr. Patrick Burns, the cattle king of Calgarry, offers fifty thousand dollars (£10,000) to equip a Legion of Frontiersmen. ITALIAN CONSUL FOUND SHOT DEAD. (Received August 13, 9 a.m.) COLOMBO, 12th August. The Italian Consul, of German nationality, was fywnd shot. It is believed to be a case of suicido.
