♦ A MONSTEE STAKE. | UNITED PRKBB ASSOCIATION. | London, 4th April. The Duke of Portland's Donovan i* a strong favourite for the Prince of Wales Stakeß to be run on Saturday at the Leiceßter Spring Meeting. [The race here referred to is a newlyinstituted monster event, of which the conditions are thus given in Euff's Guide: — The Prince of Wales Stakes of 12,000 soys, to bo distributed as follows— Tbo winner, 11,000 soys ; the second, 750 soys ; the third, 250 soys ; by subscription of 100 gs eauh p p. , for three-year-olds ; colts to carry 9st, fillies and geldings, Bst 111b ; the straight mile and a few yards ; 96 sub 3. — The entries closed as far back as 18th October, 1887. Among tho nominations are eight by Mr. Abington, nine by " Mr. Manton," four by Mr. Benzon, and three each by Mr. Douglas Baird, Mr. Uamar Bass, Lord Hastings, Duke of Portland, Baron Eothschild, and Duke of Westminster.] (Eeceived April 5, 1 p.m.) Sydney, This Day. Lady Betty has been scratched for the Sydney Cup.
