TO THE EDITOR. x Sir— s should feel much 1 obliged if you would find space in your widoly circulated paper for a few remarks about the co-called hermit, living in a seaside jock near Island Bay. Some aftomoon recontly, having been out tbore for a walk, I had occasion to spend a few minutes in the interior of his cave, and wassurprisod, judging by mere conversation, to find a rather intelligent man, of about 38 years of ago, who is living in a manner, to beoalled "alow suicide." Men frequently are arrested for having no visible means of support, while this man ia allowed to starve himself from ono year to tho other, till no doubt somo day ho will be fonnd dead. I think the law commands some authorities to take Btopa in such a case, and it is time to put an end to these antics and make the man a rational membor of the hnman race. I am, &0., G.N.
