The s.b. Lady Darling, which arrived here this morning at half-past ten, left Dan.din on 9th June, and arrived at Lyttelton at twelve o'clock the following day ; left LytfceUoti at noon on the 12th, and arrived here as above. She brings seven passengers for this port, and has thirty-five for Hokitika. The N.Z.S.N. Co.'s s.s. Queen, Captain Cellem, arrived this morning from the South. She left Port Chalmerson the 10th, at 1 p.m., and, having light head winds, arrived at Lyttelton next day. Sunday, at 2 o'clock ; left yesterday, at 1 o'clock, and arrived here this morning at a quarter-past seven. Had a fair wind from Lyttelton. A telegram from Dunedin to Christchurch, da'ed Wednesday last, says portion of a wreck waa found at Stewart's Island, but particulars unknown. The melancholy accident occurred when a party of four, pioneered by Mr. Flowers, was attempting to cross the stream from the south side. Mr. John Jones, the owner of 54 64tha of the City of Dunedin, is understood to have, in accordance with his usual custom with his vessels, not insured a farthing, and his individual loss cannot be less than £10,000 or XI 1,000. The owners of the remaining shares in the vessel are said to be fully insured.
