A GOOD OUTING
BPORTS CATHERINC AND PROCESSION. St., Patrick's Day .was celebrated in / Wellington by large numbers of people. ■The day was fine and mild, and the outings which had been planned were car- - ried out, successfully. The chief function i'was the sports gathering at New-town itParkj and at this .a great ' many people put in an appearanoe. One of the Matures connected with the gathering . mas a procession from St. Mary of the (Angels' Church in Boulcott Street, to the park. Before the procession set out ifor. Newtown, Mass was celebrated by Iheßev. Father O'Oonnel at St. Mary's Md the big congregation was addressed '•on the subject of the ; life of Ireland's •patron saint. ! The. procession was headed by the Natives Association Band ; and among the bodies participating in the march ' /were .' the Hibernian Society, the child- ' ;/ren of,the. Roman Catholic Schools, and j the .Hurling Club. Three decorated Moines, were interesting features of the . On one >as .a representation, of St. Patrick preaching on the iHill of. Tara, on another "Ireland, a vNatioh," and on a third ."Zealancua." •'ln a genuine Irish jaunting-car were teeated two of the oldest members of the Hibernian Society—Brother M. Bohan, 'She founder of the 'Wellington branch, ■"and Brother B. . Corrigan, one of . the ijpioneers of the movement. ■ • At Newtown Park a happy time . was 'spent.
