-— At the final meeting of'tho Oxford Patriotic Committee, Mr ilawka presided ovor a good attcndiincc. After routine business had been attended to, the report of the sub-com-'uuttee appointed to make r(.commendations was received. It recommended that tho wholo of tho funds and. plant of tho Oxford Patriotic Committee be vested in five trusses io ba ejected by tho committeo, and disbursed in accordance with, resolutions already passed, lijid tii at in tho event of tho late Oxford Patriotic Committeo continuing to carry on the pictures, tho plant bo leased to them; that tho Oxford Patriotic Committee disband from this date; that tho late Oxford Patriotic Comimtlco bo constituted under the. title of tho Oxford Benevolent and Improvement League, such League to consist of not j less tliail twelve members, and not moro than j tivonty-five, the League to deal with all busi- : ness, and carry on in tho public interests. !lhc report was adopted. Messrs D. Hawke, L. Watson, J?. Uebenham, T. Powell, and Dr. Bagley wero cleeted trustees. Tho meeting •adjourned to allow of the writing up cf tho minutes, which wero duly confirmed and signed, and tho committeo disbanded. The members reassembled, and were constituted a League according to tho retfeommendaation oi the committee. The officers of the committee continue officers of the. JLeague until jthc September meeting. Before tho meeting closed the chairman expressed appreciation . of tho good attendance, and the valuable services of tho members during tho five years tho committeo had been in existence, and expressed a hopo that a watchful eye would T>o kept on the needs of returned soldiers, and | a helping hand extended.
