Lato on Wednesday night Arthur i •launders was brought to tho Hospital suffering from tho effects of poison, and lied shortly afterwards. Tho man was .iving at a boarding-houso in Cashel itreet, and was found lying on his bed n-actically moribund from tho effects of tho poison. An inquest was hold hy Mr H. W. Bishop, district} coroner*" on Thursday. Charles Wilkins, carrier, stated that •io know "deceased sinco ho had been residing at tho boarding-houso, Cashel 3treot, for the past 15 months. He was a remittance man, about 40 years of ago. Ho was very reticent, and of peculiar habits, but gave no impression of taking his life. Witness last saw him at 10.15 p.m. on Wednesday, in bed. Later ho went out and witness heard him vomiting. Ho said ho had taken poison. .Witness did all lie could for deceased, and called in Dr. Duncan, who ordered his removal to the Hospital. David Livingstone Sinclair, acting medical superintendent at tho Hospital, said deceased was admitted at 11.30 p.m. on Wednesday. He w&s moribund when admitted, and died a few minutes later. A rost-morfiom examination dis- , closed signs of irritant poisoning of tho stomach sufficient *!_> account for death. The Coroner returned a verdict that died as a result' of taking ooison while in a, stato of unsound i mind.
