Those qualified to vote are (1) persons owping freehold property in the _üb-<__-tri-te; (2) persons who are ratepayers, and whose names appear in the occupiers' column in the rate books of the city, borough, or road district; and (3) persons possessing a residential qualification, that is that they have been in occupation as tenants or sub-tenants of any house, warehouse, office or shop, the rent of which is at a rate of not less than £510 per annum. In respect to the two first qualifications no personal application was. necessary . for enrolment; personal application was necessary in respect to the residential qualification.* It has already •• been decided that boarders or lodgers are not qualified to apply for enrolment in respect to the residential q___fic_tionIt is anticipated that some confusion will arise in connection with voters who possess the necessary qualification to vote in more than one district in view of the fact that they can only record one vote, and that for tfce candidate for the sub-district upon the roll j of which the voter's name appears. Thus, a person qualified to vote either in the CSiri-tchuroh-Sydenham-St. Albans sabdistrict and the Linwood sub-district may present himself at a C___rt*_u_oh-Sy _e_h___- j St. Albans booth only to find that his name ] docs not appear on tho roll for that stib-di-trict, but is on tho roll for the Linwood sub-district. Elector, who pce-essed qualifications to vote in tootb than one sub-dis-trict were, it is understood, given the option of deciding in which they w_t_d vote, and some took advantage of this, whilst others omitbed to do so. In order to reduce to a minimum the inconvenience which it is anticipated will arise, the ret_rn__g officer (Mr John White law) has supplied his poll clerks with copies of the complete roll (in addition to the rolls of the sob-district in which they are taking the poll), and they w__ acquaint voters with the sub-district on the roll of which their names appear..
