LAST RESPECTS PAID
LATE SIR ALFRED RANSOM TRIBUTE BY MR. FRASER (P.A.) DANNEVIRKE, Tuesday. The funeral of the late Sir Alfred Ransom was held yesterday and was one of the biggest seen in the district. The Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser represented the Government and Mr. Broadfoot, Chief Opposition Whip, represented the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Holland and the Parliamentary National party. Several other past and present members ot Parliament were present. Business premises were closed while the funeral was in progress. All local bodies to which Sir Alfred had belonged wei" e represented. There was i great array of floral emblems. Mr ' Fraser, in a pre-funeral tribute, said he had always held Sir Alfred in very high esteem. As a Minister of the Crown he was always approachable and helplul, and he was one of New Zealand s best citizens. All sections of the House would deplore his passing. He was a very deservedly popular member and a worthy citizen.
