CALL TO DANZIG.
RETURN TO THE REICH.
Goebbels Gives Assurance Of German Support. " PEACE WITH GUNS." United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 12 noon.) DAXZIG, June 18. Calling on Danzig Germans to '"hold out pending the return of Danzig to the Reich," Dr. Goebbels, Nazi Minister of Propaganda, in an impromptu speech, declared: "The world should know from past experience that the Fuehrer does not make empty speeches. "The world commits a dangerous mistake if it believes the Fuehrer shrinks from threats or surrenders to blackmail. Therefore you can look confidently to the future. j "Germany stands on your side, just as you remain loyal to it."' said Dr. i Goebbels. "The lying. war-inciting Press in London and Paris asserts that you do not want to return to the Reich. I came in order to strengthen your determination. Only a jealous and unreasonable world can undertake to resist the urge of one people to join another." RiVer Frontiers in Europe. Dr. Goebbels said that according to Warsaw, towns at river mouths belong to the countries through which the rivers flow. Therefore. Rotterdam belonged to Germany because the Rhine was German. This method of solving matters was lame and almost comical.
"Poland declares the Oder River is her frontier," he continued. "It is surprising that she does not claim the Rhine, where she could meet her new British allies, who regard the Rhine as their frontier.
"The British Foreign Secretary. Viscount Halifax, declared he wants the Danzig question settled in a friendly manner. Therefore Britain gives Poland a. blank cheque and attempts to encircle Italy and Germany in order to revive the policy of 1914. They err if they believe they are confronted by a weak, bourgeois Germany."
The crowd punctuated the speech with cries of: "The Fuehrer shall come to Danzig! One Fuehrer, one people, one Reich!"
He it Buorckel. N'a/.i Commissioner in Vienna. in a speech. >:iid that Herr Hitler "Ims proclaimed peace with l;uiis. The time for delta ting civilian rights is over. The time for hard soldiers has come."
