MEETINGS OF SETTLERS. MR. HERBITT'I ADDRESSES. In the evening Mr. Merritt addressed a larger meeting of some 70 people at the Oneroa Hall. 'Ihere was a constant .stream of good-natured interjections Irom a email section of the audience, but whatever feelings of antagonism there might have been were dispelled at the conclusion of the meeting by interjectors coming to the platform and shaking Mr. Merritt by tlie hand. The sincerity of Mr. Merritt's reply to i|UPrtioiK on unemployment, in which lie stated that, in his opinion, the unemployment question was one of such serious moment as to be placed above party issues, obviously won the syinpathy of hi* hearer*.
