Private advice has been received of Iho death in Melbourne of Mr. Herbert John Pithor, aped 60, who was a prominent cyclist in the early days, being Australian-New Zealand champion in IS9-4 and 1895, defeating A. A. Zimmerman nt Sydney. He also built and flew at Riverton one of the first aeroplanes to be flown in New Zealand. Later he made pioneer flights with it. In Australia he was noted as a highly-skilled mechanic. He had built a motor car and marine engines.
