WHAKATANE MEMORIAL.
HONOURS ROLL UNVEILED. Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WHAKATANE, Monday. A roll of honour containing the names of 68 local men who fell in the Great War was unveiled in the Whakatane Hospital on Sunday before a large gathering. Mr. A. Peebles (chairman of the Hospital Board) spoke on behalf of the Europeans and Mr. Pouawha Meihana on behalf of the Maoris. On behalf of the Tteturned Soldiers' Association Mr. Mungo Douglas presented a complete X-ray apparatus to the hospital. Speeches of acknowledgment were made by Mr. A. Peebles and Dr. Cronin.
