SUDDEN DEATH.
CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. A man named Alexander Cairey, aged 42, died suddenly at about eight o'clock this morning. At the inquest to-day the evidence showed that deceased was a remittance man, and had been at Pakatoa, but, leading an exemplary existence, was released on probation. Remittance money to the amount of "£l5O accumulated meantime, and this he spent in drink in a comparatively brief period. The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence, that deceased had died from chronic alcoholic pomuuinf.
