GUMDIGGER'S SUDDEN DEATH.
William Spence, <a gumdigger of Wade, 42 years of age, was found dead in his bunk at the Quarry Camp on Wednesday night by his mate, Albert Nelson, and at an inquest into the occurrence yesterday, Dr Hood stated that a post-mortem examination showed that death was evidently due to pneumonia and syne , ope. The evidence of the mate, Albert Nelson, was to the effect that deceased was a remittance man, living apart from his wife, and shortly before his death he had been drinking heavily. Patrick Grant, another gumdigger, living at the Ohura Camp, and Constable of Devonport, gave evidence,, and a verdict of death from pneumonia was returned.
