THE EPSOM DERBY.

As regards the Derby, says a London writer, little has to be written, except that Ladas is under a heavy cloud, and is said to be coughing. This may not be a very serious matter, or it may. The colt is in such good hands that the chances are in his favour, and a few dayß may see him all right and at work again. Nevertheless, there is always the danger of a cough leaving an ugly legacy behind that not unfrequontly develops serious mischief. There is plenty of time from now to the Derby; but the sooner Ladas shakeß off this cough the better will those interested in his valuable future be pleased. Meantima 1,000 to 300 was offered at Sandown, few caring to como to the rescue, at the price. Nor is this very extraordinary after the glowing account recently given us in a contemporary of the well-doing of the Kingsclero pair. Incleed, we seem likely to have an extremely interesting race on June 6th noxfc, and one cannot help thinking thab St. Florian might improve quite as much as Bullingdon, their race at Goodwood, where the former was particularly backward, showing that they were were pretty close together in form.
