Full particulars of the St. Leger are to hand. Chifcabob started after all. The Yorkshire colt was second favourite at 5 te 1, although he figured at half price a week before the race. Donovan's price was 13 to 8 against the field, there being a dozen starters, .and the Duke of Portland's wonderful colt beat Miguel, who started 33 to 1, by three lenarths, Devonporfc, who finished third on sufferance, the same distance off the second, being at 20 to 1 Enthusiast was fourth, and Chitabob fifth. The place betting was 9 to 2 on Donovan, 5 to 2 against Miguel, 2 to 1 against Davenport, and 6 to 4 against Cbitabob, the latter of whom it was decided should not race again this year. The race (about 1 mile 6 furlongs and 132 yards) was run in 3mm. 13sec., and the net value of the stakes to the winner 4,Boosovs. The Sto. Leger brought Donovan's winnings for his two seasons up to 44,56250v5., while as he won the Lancashire Plate of 12,000a0v5., and 20sovs. sweepstakes the following week, *he-totol score will be betwewt 50,000 and 60,000 fiova.
