WAIKATO NOTES.

Hamilton, this day. At the meeting of the Licensing Committee thero was a full attendance of members i All four licenses were renewed, and an application to transfer tho Royal Hotel from E. L. Smith to S. Meredith considered. It was found, however, that proper notice had not been given, and therefore no transfer could be made. The Committee agreed to grant a temporary transfer until next quarterly meeting. A New Zealand wine license was granted to Mr J. Knox. At the meeting of the Waikato District Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, a demand was received from Messrs Heskebh and Richmond for the sum' of £307 7s 4d, amount awarded by the Controller-General to the Auckland Board, and threatening legal proceedings, Tho Board resolvod to resist payment. Mr Robertson, manager at Waiteti on the railway contract, forwarded £37 asa voluntary contribution from the men. This makes the third contribution from the same quarter. Mr Robertson also said that all those who had been in the hospital had expressed themselves as being highly pleased with the treatment received both from tho doctor and nurses A special vote of thanks was passed to Mr Robertson and his men. It was reported that the purchase of the Hospital and grounds had been completed at a total cost of £782 ss, exclusive of the lawyer's account. The property is 50 acres in extent.

Cambridge, Wednesday.

Mr Neal, seedsman, is getting up a show of roots, which promises to be a great success. He has sold very large quantities of Webb's seeds, and is desirous to show what results can be obtained.

Mr Hunt, so long manager of the Gorton estate, is, I am sorry to gay, about to leave us. He has been appointed to the responsible position of manager at Matamata, and as this means promotion for him his friends cannot grumble much. The pigeon mateb vcomes off1 on Saturday. The following are the details:—Hitchinson, 30yds. ; McGregor, 28yds. ; McMillan, J. Long, McCann, and D. Long, 26yds. ; Case, Fraser, and Arnaboldi, 25yds. ; Marshall and Kay, 23yds. ; Williams, 22yds. ; and Arnold, 20yds. A good'day's shooting may be looked for.

The Pakuranga hounds are expected up in July, and a strong committee has been appointed to arrange for the management of tho season.

Football has got a fair start at last, and the first match will be played on Saturday, the 16th inst., between Cambridgo and Ohaupo.
