Wellikgtckt, Saturday. The Public Works Estimates are issued. The following are the alterations so far as Auckland is concerned : —
Immigration.—lncreased from L78,70C toLlOO.OOO; Immigration Officer, increased from Ll5O to L 200; Depot Master, from L4O to L75 ; Quarantine Keeper, from L7B to Ll4O.
Public Works Department.—lncreased from L 14,:02 to L 30.057. There is an allowance of L3OO set down for the widow of E. R. Otway.
Railways, New Works, Construction, and Land.—Kawakawa, L 9,700; Whan-garei-Kamo, L 2.100; Hamilton-Cambridge, L 17.900; Hamilton-Te Aroha, Grahamstown, and Kopu, L 78.600. For works on open landa the votes are :—Kawakawa, L.5,000 ; Whangarei Karoo, Ll.OOO; Kai-para-Waikato, L 59,316. Permanent Way and Rolling Stook : Kawakawa, L 2,215 ; Whangarei-Kamo, L 805; Hamilton-Cam-bridge, L4.9G0 ; Humilton -Te Aroha, L 12.088; Grahamstown • Kopu, L 1.819. Survey of New Lines : North Island, LI.OOO ; South Island, L 12.000. Roads,*Bkidges, axd Wharves.—North Auckland, L 103.800. Main Roads:—Cam-bridge-Taupo, Ll.OOO; Cambridge-Rotoma, L 3.000; Tauranga, East Cape, Whakatone, Te Teko, and sundry roads in Bay of Plenty, L 3.000 ; Tauranga to Napier, via Taupo, L' 4,300; Great South Road, L 720; ferry punt and approaches at Huntley L 350 j payment of ferrymen at Port Wai-i kato, 1.16; Waikomiti bridge and approaches to road from Pukekohe railway station to VVaiuku, LI.OOO ; punt at Tuakau Road, Tuhikaramea to Hamilton, L2;T ; road from Raglan to Waina, L 450; biidge over the Waikato at Hamilton contribution, L 25 0; road from Cambridge to Taurasga, LSOO ; road from Katikati to Te Aroha (horsetrack), L 500; road from Thames to Tauranga, L 1,500 ; repairing flood damages in Copk County, L 44 ; sundry roads and bridges in Auckland, including road surveys and inspections, L 5.500. Roads toopen up lands before sale required for 1884-85 (third year), L 103.703. The additional works in Auckland are :—Widening a road, L 300; Waimamaku Bridge, L 500; Awaroa swamp, drains, and roads, L 270; Paparoa to Waikiekie, L 500; Otatnarakau Bridge, L 30 0; Pakoka, LSOO. Aucklandnewprison is eetdown at L4,C00, as against L 3.000 voted last year. There is L3OO provided for Rotorua Post-office, L3O for Russell Custom-house, and Ll5O for Whangarei. Additional accommodation at the Auckland Lunatic Asylum is provided for by a vote of Li 2,090. The votes under Customs are:—Ls.loo for Kaipara Heads lighthouse; L 1,056 for laying a cable to Tiritiri; and LB.OOO for Cuvier Island lighthouse.
