The Pope and Consistory again threaten to ex-communicate Freemasons. Fitz James Stephen becomes SolicitorGeneral. Baltimore losses by fire are valued at 600,000 dollars. The harvest in England is plentiful, and agricultural prospects are encouraging. August 1. Goodwood Cup : Flageolet, 1 ; Favonius, 2; Cremorne, 3. The King of Saxony is alarmingly ill. The Government bonded -warehouse at New York was burned down. A discussion occurred in the House of Commons on Ministerial responsibility and Mr Ayrton's repudiation of responsibility for the Board of Works. The estimate was altered by the Treasury. Mr Gladstone disagreed with Mr Ayrton's dictum. The Spanish insurgents are burning Seville with petroleum. An insurgenb squadron of five gunboats and two frigates are bombarding Almeria. The insurg9nts at Carthagena have formed a Ministry. The Spanish Government is negotiating with the insurgents in Valentia. Don Carlo 3 has entered Biscay/ Discount, 3£ per cant.
