Eima, this day A kirk broke out in tho town yesterday and destroyed thoEltham Co-Operative Bacon Factory, Tho building had only recently openod, tho business having been transferred to iho now premises at a cost of, ovor £4OOO, Tho factory was tho most complete of lis kind in Iho colony and inoludod bacon curing and small goodp, The stock on hand, which was valued at £7OO, was all sold, besides largo orders for tho Christmas trade, Tho insuranoo on tho building was £IOSO, on tho plant 1950, and on the stock i'soo, in tho United Insurauco Company. The loss direct is £1750 over tho insurances. The origin is a mystery, but there is strong suspicion of incbiidiarism, this being the eighth unexplained firo in eight mouths Tho equinoxial galo was raging, which rendered sulvagooi tho stock impossible
