Seventy thousand visited Canton from all parts of the States, ' 20,000 joining in the procession from the Methodist Church to- the cemetery c "in-^ eluding President Rooseveldt, the Cabinet, .Congressmen, chief generals, ,ad; mirals, foreign Ministers, t and representative Americans. - There was little pageantry, though 2000 Regulars, 5000 National Guards, and a strong force of old veterans-par-ticipated. The silent homage was most impressive. • ' The day was extensively devoted to mourning and prayer. The railway* and other traffic was largely suspended during tho houi; of interment. i-rs McKinley's condition is grave.
