Cairo, January 7.-*-Lord Wolseley has telegraphed from Korti, announcing that Colonel Sir H. Stewart, with a cavalry convoy, starts for El Metemneh, a village a short distance to the south of Shendy, on the left bank of the Nile, on Thursday next. It is expected that El Metemneh will be reached and occupied on the 15th instant, and if a steamer is available there, regular communication with General Gordon will be opened forthwith.
