Souakim, March 20.
A coneidernble force of British troops started at day-light to-day for Hassan, where immediate work will be commenced in the cons-ruction of entrenchments. Later. lutelligenee to hand stales that tho British force, which left here at daylight, for Hassan, came up with the rebels under Osman Digna, and a very severe engagement ensued. The fighting lasted fully five hours, and resulted in a complete defeat of the rebels, who were driveu from all their positions with heavy loss of killed and wounded.
