AUSTRALIAN NEWS.
Melbourne, March 21.
A cricket match between Shaw's English Eleven and a team representing the Combined Australians commenced on the Melbourne Club ground to-day, in the precence of a large number of spectator?, the weather was fine and the ground in first class order, an excellent wicket being available. Tho Australan captain won the toss and sent his men to the wickets first. The principal ecorers were : — Bruce, bowled, 13; Jams, caught, 13; Spofforth, bowled, 20 ; Trimble, not out, 34. The Australian team were all disposed of for a total of 164 runs. The Englishmen theu went to the wickets. Scotton and Barnes the first representatives made a good stand, and when time was called the scores stood at 44 without the loss of a wicket, Scotton, being 21 ; Barnes, 19, not out. The ma'ch will be continued on Monday.
March 22. The steamship Orient arrived this morning from Plymouth.
