230 GUINEAS FOR A BATTERED WOODEN BOX.

The cradle of Henry V. was offered for sale at Messrs Christie's rooms on .Friday, and failed to realise more than 230 guinea?, the final bidder b>ing Mr Guy Laking, the King's Armourer, who ■purchased the zelic for his Majesty. The pedigree- of the cradle, which in appearance, at least, is little more than a battered, bottomless wooden box hang from two carved posts, can be traced back without a- break to 1774, and it is said to have been originally at Courtfield, near Monmouth, "where tbo infant prince was for some time placel m the care of Lady Montacute, lioiress of Thomas de Monthermer and granddaughter of Edward I.
