THE APPEAL COMMISSION.
[Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, May 30. Tho Commission, consisting of Captain Mair, of the Native Department, Mr Barclay, interpreter to the House of Representatives, and Mr Parateno Ngata, which was. appointed to deal I with the numerous appeals lodged against th& decisions of the Urewera Native Commission, has completed its labours and forwarded its report to the- Native Minister. Tho Appeal Coinini&sion has, it is stated, done its work thoroughly. Titles, to about three-quarter of a million acres have been finally ascertained, a.nd a committee of Natives has been set up to- deal with all questions affecting the block. Power iff given to the Native Committee to alienate any portion or tho district to his Majesty, or by way of cession for mining purposes. lhe Native Minister points out that the Crown will now be able, to move in. the direction of setting a portion ot tne <li'»t,rw»fc thrown op-en to prospectors.
