CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, Feb. 4. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) DPwtrNKENNEss. — Two female first offenders were<each fined ss, in default twentyfour hours' imprisonment.— A male first offender, charged with drunkenness while in charge of a horss and trap, was fined ss, or, in default, twenty -four hours' imiprisonrrient. By-law 'Cases. —The charges of hawking without license or permit preferred against Charles Abraham and Solomon Shah were, on the application of tPa. Police, withdrawn.
Affiliation. — William. John Pellow. was charged} - on remand, with failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child«_y Defendant was adjudged the putative fatlifr of the child, abd. ordered to find a security of £75 for the maintenance of the child when born.
Alleged Intended Wife Desebtion.— Thomas Nicholson was charged with being about to leave his wife without providing her with adequate means of support.- Mr Donnelly appeared for Mrs Nicholson and Mr Russell for the defendant. As tbo complainant had met with an accident, and was unable to appear, Mr Donnelly arked for a remand for one week. Tlie remand was granted, the defendant being admitted to bail, himself in a surety of £50 and one other surety of £50. Maintenance. — Francis Harwood', charged, with failing to obey an order of the Court, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment.- — An ordor standing against Walter Chapman, for fhe maintenance of his mother, was reduced to 3s a week. —
William Henry Cummin, wms charged with failing to provide for the maintenance of his child. The complainant did not appear, and the case was dismissed. — Robert Fisher, for whom Mr Donnelly appeared, was* charged with deserting his children, and leaving them without adequate means nf maintenance. Mr Flesher appeared for Mrs Fisher, and asked that an order should be made for the support of , two of the children. His Worship directed the defendant to pay 4s _ week for tlio support of each child.
