[REUTKR'S TELEGRAMS.] SYDNEY, Skpt. 2. The Australian Jockey Club's Spring Meeting oommenced at Randwiek today. The weather was most favourable, and an immense crowd of visitors, estimated at fully 10,000, visited the course. His Excellency the Governor and suite were also present. The following were the results of the principal events : — Tbe Htjbdle Race, a handicap sweepstakes of 5 soys each, 1 forfeit, with 100 soys added. Second horse 20 bovb from the prize. . T-vo miles and a-half. Mr H. Herbert's b g Basilisk, ageel ... 1 Mr T. Wilson's b g Sportsman, Syrs ... 2 Mr G. Pyera' b m Annie Laurie, 6yrs ... 3 The A.J.O. Debby, a sweepstakes of 30 soys each, 5 forfeit. For three-year-olds. Colts, Bst 101 b; fillies, Bst 51b. The owner of the second horse to receive 60 bovb ont of the stake. One mile and a-half. Closed with 82 snbscribers. Mr K. De Mestre's blk o Navigator, by Bobinßon Crusoe— Cocoanut ... 1 Hon J. White's b o Segenhoe, by Maribyrnong—The l<awn 2 Louis? t Nioholas? t These four horses were the only starters. Nicholas (?) led for a mile, when Navigator went up and led round the home turn, Nicholas gradually falling behind. Segenhoe made a splendid effort to catch Navigator, but failed, Navigator winning by a length and a half. Louis (?) and Nicholas ran a dead heat for third place. Time— 2 min 48f sec. No such names as Louis and Nioholas appear in the list of entries.] The Spring Stakes, a sweepstakes of 5 soys eaoh, 1 forfeit, with 200 soys added. For three years old and upwards.
