Oampbeh.—This was an unsatisfied judgment -and• ; defendant was examined;—He deposed that if -be paid Koach he would have had to pay twenty-sis or twenty-seven men. Defendant ha'd taken a- contract ; arid* employed a number of men.—After examination, his Worship ordered him to pay the 'money by to-morrow, or to undergo a month's imprisonment. • •• :J. Wade v. D. Dam.-This case had formerly been before the Court. It was |a claim for &f 15s lOd balance of acoouut, jand defendant had paid £1 10s 9d into iCourfc, The accountsbefcween the parties jwere gone into at some length, and his : Worship decided to arbitrate privately.' Honi Nahe v. J. BacKLK.-Mr Macdonald for plaintiff, Mr Dodd for defendant. Claim £5 for damages -Plaintiff deposed that he lived at Kmkiri." He know a ! piece' of land there called Te Hore, which was enclosed by a fence. It belonged to his hapu. He :cultivated a piece of that land. He remembered that several cows were impounded for trespassing on that piece of land. When they were put in the pound, they found that they belonged to Buckley. Before they wore impounded, he aw them on Te Hore. He helped to drive them out of the fence. He saw them on the portion of laud which he cultivated. He had kumaras, potatoes, melons, maize, and- pumpkins growing on his land. The cows damaged the crops. I f Buckley had been there, and offered him £1 he would have taken it for the damage. Heonsidered'at that time that £1 damage had been done.-Witness was by Mr Dodd, who addressed the Court - His Worship gave judgment for plaintiff for £1 damages, and costs, £3 10s.
