OAKURA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) August 22nd. — We were favoured on Monday with a visit from the Chairman of the County Council, who, with the Engineer and Councillor Adlam, visited the Tapuae. Mr. Morris had complained about earth being taken from his land. Mr. Morris met the visitors, and, after a little talk, the matter was satisfactorily settled. The party went on to the Oakura river and had a look at the new bridge. When the road is made this will be a big improvement, though the bank wants taking off a little. - There are complaints about the way carriers leave things on the road for people instead of putting them inside the gates. The obstacles frighten the horses. A farewell social was given to Mrs. Wareham, Mr. Wareham, and family on Tuesday evening. A rather large percentage of people in the district attended and many from outside. The factory suppliers are complaining about having to go to Timaru creamery so long, but I hear the factory will be ready to separate on Sunday, all being well.
