Civil war is spreading northward along the Volga from Astrakan to Samara. The Maximalists occupy Astrakan, while the Cossacks are twenty versts distant,.
An extraordinary situation exists at Baritsa, where neitter Cossacks nor Maximalists have the mastery, both being beaten by tie Ilodoriuites.
