FINAL DANCE FOR SAILORS.
i The last of a series of jolly gatherings, arranged by various organisations for the benefit of the men from H.M.S. I Renown, was held in the King Edward Barracks last evening. The hosts and hostesses on this occasion were mein[bcrs. of the British and Foreign Sailors' .Society, in conjunction with the Haribour Lights Girls' Club, this being the ; third evening held under this coinbinlation. The seamen were served with a i tempting high tea from 5..'10 to 6.30, land an hour later dancing commenced, there beina a large attendance of the ! outside public as well as Renown's men land their entertainers. The dance, 'which was one of the most successful 'yet held, was thoroughly enjoyed to | music supplied by Mr Bert Willyams's orchestra, Chief Seaman Carringtou actI ing as master of ceremonies. During an I interval in the dancing, the appreciation ! of the men for the entertainment pro- ' vided for them was voiced by Petty- ! Officer "Robinson, who warmly thanked jthe ladies of Christchureh for their j kindness and hospitality. Mr F. W. I Anderson, president of the local branch lof the British and Foreign Sailors' j Society, made a suitable acknowledgment.
