WATER POLO.
That H.M.S. Renown has an excellent water poll) team was demonstrated in the Tepid Baths last evening. A team from the battle cruiser met a side representative of the New Brighton Surf Club, and although beaten by 2 goals to 1, the visitors made all extremely creditable showing. The teams were as follow: H.M.S. Renown—Forwards: Stoker Spiers, r.O. Edwards, Corporal Press; half-backs: Band Sergt. Baker. A.B. Stevenson; lullback: Lieut. Denham; goal: Ist half. A. B. I.cc, 2nd half, Bund-Scrgt. Baker. New Brighton Surf Club—Forwards: H. Coulter, S. Hollander. A. E. Sununerlleld; hairbacks: I). T. Coulter, I". L. Collins; fullback: C. Bryant; goal: B. S. Knox. The game was exciting, the team from Renown missing several chances through over-eagerness. R. Coulter drew first blood for New Brighton, and for a time a good defence saved further scores. Then Renown took the offensive and, from a different angle, Corpl. Press shot a goal. From a mix-up, Stimnierfield scored the winning goal for New Brighton. A relay race was swum prior to the match, the New Brighton team winning by a few inches. Cater, members of Renown's team were entertained at high tea by their opponents.
